What is life coaching? How is it different from mental health therapy?

What is a free
life coaching consultation?
I offer a free 15-30 minute coaching consultation (over the phone or via Zoom) in which we can meet, get to know one another, and see if we are a good fit for life coaching. If we decide to move forward, we will schedule a time for a full 50-minute coaching session.
Do you offer in-person coaching sessions?
Due to COVID-19, I am only offering online life coaching sessions, for your protection as well as for mine. With online coaching sessions, I am able to life coach anyone, no matter where they live, as long as they have an internet connection.
Once things starting getting back to normal, I plan on offering in-person sessions for residents of Mesa County in Western Colorado.
How long is a full
coaching session?
My sessions are 50 minutes. Please give yourself enough time to get settled and comfortable before our session begins, preferably in a private location free from distractions and excess noise.
What should I do to prepare for my first full session?
In order to get the most out of your session, please complete the Client Info Form and email it to me before your first session.
I will have emailed this to you after we set up the date and time for our first full coaching session.
How much does a
session cost?
I charge $120 per hour per 50-minute session.
How can I pay for my session?
Once we set up a meeting time, I will send you an invoice through PayPal. Please pay for our session before that scheduled session begins.
I will not be able to commence with our session until the invoice is paid. Thank you for your understanding.
Do you take insurance?
As life coaching is not currently regulated, I am unable to take insurance.
I can’t make my scheduled session. How do I cancel and/or reschedule?
If you need to reschedule, please call me at (970) 462-7782 at least 24 hours in advance. If you do not notify me at least 24 hours in advance, you will be billed for a missed session.
What online platform
do you use?
I use Zoom. You will need to download the free Zoom program/application on your device (either a computer or a charged mobile device). Once we schedule our first full session, I will send you a Zoom session invite. You can click on the link in the invite to enter our session.
Prior to our session, make sure you are in a quiet, private place, free of distractions.

Why the name “Apostrophe Coaching?”
The apostrophe is a grammatical symbol that sets off a possessive (ie: Sarah’s cat). Likewise, in coaching, we aim to claim our own stories which we do by taking possession of and responsibility for our own lives. By doing the work on and with ourselves, we realize that we alone have the power to transform our own lives.
Do life coaches need
to be certified?
Currently, life coaching isn’t regulated, so life coaches do not need to be certified to practice. However, in the interest of giving my clients the best I can offer, I have gained my certification through the iNLP Center and am currently in the process of gaining my life coach certification through the International Coach Federation, the world’s largest organization of professionally trained coaches.
